Job hunting as a student in Japan
The shukatsu calendar in one line, then the official pages. This is not legal advice, and it does not state part-time hour limits.
What to do
- Entry opens around 1 March for the year before graduation. Interviews run from June. Offers land around October. That is the Study in Japan schedule. Start 6 to 12 months early.
- Part-time work while you are studying needs permission. Read the ISA status list. This page does not state the hours.
- After you graduate, Designated Activities for continuing job hunting exists. Read ISA: Designated Activities. This page does not state how long it lasts.
- Free places to start: the JASSO job-hunting guide, your school career center, and Hello Work.
- Two field notes from Ved: tip 01 and tip 02.
- English-facing boards in the directory: GaijinPot Jobs and Daijob. The category page is Recruitment and employment.
Resume wording and the full board table are on the jobs hub.
